I would use this activity with my 5th grade LA class. The students would have to look at the picture and then give a basic declarative sentence about the picture. They could make their sentence based on the whole picture or they could focus in on a certain part of the picture. The student's second sentence would be to change their verb to make it more exciting and to add detail to their sentence. The next sentence would be to make their sentence even longer by including at least two adjectives.
